Last summer, we found Shelley crossing the road. Built a great pen for her, but Shelley would not be contained. We took her to a local nature preserve and set her free. http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/Rapids/8047/boxturtle.gif
She is scaling the fence. - that's reptile lingo for climbing! Yes, and she was very good at it... that's why we set her free. We were afraid she would go too high and fall. If I hadn't seen it myself...I wouldn't believe it.

Turtles and moths are okay, I guess, but where are the provocative produce (wink wink, nudge nudge) from produce night?
Nice Rick, but I believe that is a tortoise, not a turtle.
He's so cute! Didn't you see any frogs?
Eastern Box Turtle
Yep. Name is right, but there is a regional difference in naming conventions.
In the UK turtles live in water and have legs adapted for such. In the USA if part of the habitat includes water, they are called turtles.
Since these critters are in the USA they have to be turtles, though if they lived in the UK we would call them tortoises!
What a cute little guy he is. :-)
I never did understand the difference between turtle, toroise and terrapin.
I always love a good pic of a turtle. :)
