Art Is...

I had no idea this was on YouTube. It's been up for about 9 months. I do not know who made it. Honest.

Circumstances...

...prevent me from posting any images right now. I'm on a trip and I didn't bring everything I need to take care of the blog. I'll be posting as soon as I can.

Out of touch...

... and sorry for not posting for a few days. I was at a family reunion at Pipestem State Park and we were staying down at the bottom of the tramway in the gorge where there is no Internet or cell phone service.

Nothing to post

I've spent the last two days in the car. I took a lot of pictures but they're all crap. I'll have produce tomorrow evening but I don't feel like posting something mediocre just to be doing it now in the middle of the night. I'm going to bed.

A new image for West Virginia

Today is West Virginia Day. A lot of bloggers are getting together to try and put forth a new image for our state. One of the things that I've noticed over the years is that I have a very different view of our state and our economy than the conventional wisdom. We hear lots of moaning about how there are no jobs and the economy is terrible, etc., etc. As an advertising photographer, I go around the state and I visit all sorts of businesses and organizations. If they are spending money to bring me to their location, chances are that these groups are growing and are doing interesting things. That's what I see, day in and day out, so my perspective is much more optimistic about what's going on here. Here are a few shots from some of those visits. I wish I had more time to dig into the files, but here are a few things I found with a quick browse.

Yet another local bloggers meet-up

A group of local bloggers met with a reporter from the Charleston Gazette today at Capitol Roasters.

Sara Winn, photographer Chip Ellis, and Todd Beane.

That's Bill Gardner on the left.

If you're interested in what it was all about, check Oncee, he writes more than I do.

"A Better WV" Blogger Meet-Up

Jason Keeling (that's him in the green shirt) of aBetterWestVirginia.com managed to get a bunch of bloggers together on a Saturday afternoon to discuss blogging in WV. It's late and I don't have time to put captions on these shots, but Oncee did it for me.

Internet Problems

I'm in Washington DC. The hotel where I am is having Internet problems so I couldn't post last night. I'll try to get some photos up this evening.

Print Offer

If you are waiting for a print from me (from my Produce #100 post) they just went out today. I had to get the mailing supplies in and then find the time to get it all together, etc.

CAB5 Happened

It was a small gathering of Charleston Area Bloggers... but it was momentous because Sharon of the great "Adventures of a Domestic Engineer" blog actually showed up. We were awed. We're not worthy... seriously.

CAB4 Happened

The lunch-time CAB4 (4th monthly Charleston Area Bloggers) happened at my studio today. I'm not sure if everybody had a good time, but I did. I was giving tours most of the time and talking photography so I didn't get a chance to talk blogging much. It was great to meet Rudy Panucci of The Gazz/Popcult. This was his first CAB meeting I think.

Dale Morton (above) started a blog during the CAB4 meeting. I just checked and there's still no posts, so I won't link to it here. I'll be sure to post a link when he gets started. Dale's business is pretty cool so I'm sure he'll have some interesting things to show and tell.

UPDATE
The following people were in attendance:

Rick Lee (On Location with Rick Lee)
Robin S (One Stack Mind)
Bob Coffield (Health Care Law Blog)
Rudy Panucci (PopCult)
Shane Evans (Through the Lens)
Dale Morton (Costume Blog) link will come later when he gets it going
Scott Mitchell (Entropy)

Thanks to Scott for the names.

Betty Gay also stopped by. She wasn't there for the meeting, but it was great to have her there anyway.

One-Year Blog Anniversary & CAB4

Wow... I just noticed that tomorrow is my one-year blog anniversary. I guess the CAB4 meeting this Friday at my studio will also be a celebration of that. (big deal, eh?) If you haven't been following this CAB4 is the 4th monthly meeting of Charleston Area Bloggers. Everybody is welcome... we'll meet at my photography studio at 12 noon... bring your own lunch. You can get directions to my studio on my other web page. The studio is on Charleston's beautiful West Side conveniently located across from the tatoo parlor. (Don't worry... the murders always happen at night.) Previous meetings have been fun!

CAB3 Happened

Once again, the Charleston Area Bloggers met at Taylor Books this morning. We should call it "Charleston Area Bloggers Who Can Get Up In The Morning". CABWCGUITM. We keep getting requests to have this at a bar in the evening for other folks. I guess it will have to be two different groups because that wouldn't work for some of us. I need more coffee. BTW, that's me in the center of the first photo... on my right is Bill Gardner and Bob Coffield. On my left is Robin Sizemore, and Stacey Abshire. Also across the table later... Will Stewart, Scott Mitchell and Amber Dawn. Thanks to Dyann Simile for standing on a chair and shooting that for me.

CAB3 is coming

Hey... look at the calendar! Tomorrow is supposed to be the 3rd Charleston Area Bloggers meetup at Taylor Books. 8 to 9am. I'll be there at about 7:30am to snag a table. If you can't make it at 8... come anytime until 9:30am. Some of us will be there. CAB2 was fun!

CAB2 happened

This is the grand convocation of the Charleston Area Bloggers at Taylor Books this morning. Again no females... it's beginning to look like the A/V club here. I'm afraid I don't have time right now to sit and put names and blog links with everybody... would you guys help me out here and do that in the comments? I managed to not get a photo of Shane or me.
