Allen Family Reunion - Treetops Canopy Tour - Fayetteville, WV

The Allen Reunion 2010 gang goes zip-lining at Treetops Canopy Tour (Rivermen/ClassVI) in Fayetteville, WV... 11 zips and assorted swinging bridges, etc. About 4 hours spent in the treetops. Our most excellent guides were Sam and Tabitha... they were great! Incredible fun!

A few more shots from the Cincinnati ballpark...

... called "Great American Ballpark".

Fullfilling a fantasy... sitting in the dugout...

I didn't expect to see a teabag on the warning track.

Great American Ballpark... Part 1

I get to do some interesting stuff sometimes... today was one of them.

Washing the bases...

I'll post some more of these tomorrow.

Winterplace

The last few days I've been working at Winterplace near Flattop, WV. They just keep adding facilities every year. It's turning into a really nice destination. Most of the people I meet there are from the Carolinas and Tennessee.

Making snow...

... at Winterplace... they move a lot of H2O.

OJ Mayo

OJ Mayo is stirring things up at USC these days. Here's a picture I took of him at age 13 (I think) for Sports Illustrated For Kids Magazine. I've been around him on several occasions. I don't follow sports much, so I'm not starry-eyed about athletes. OJ has always impressed me as a serious and well-behaved kid off the court. I'm rooting for him to do well in life.

Bridge Day 2007

After all these years, I finally went to Bridge Day. I had a lot of work to do for a client besides shooting jumpers, but I did get a few shots of the action. It's pretty startling to see people jump off the edge, 876 feet above the river.

More Basketball

I'm playing sports photographer again. This is the 2007 Huntington High Dream Team. As I said before, I have hardly any experience shooting sports but I've had this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to photograph one of the top high school teams in the country. We haven't had a local team like this since Jerry West played for East Bank High in 1956.

Above is OJ Mayo. I did a portrait of him for Sports Illustrated for Kids magazine when he was in Junior High.

Sports!

I have practically no experience shooting sports but I had the chance to shoot the Huntington High dream team this evening. (The yellow T-shirts say "Our Dream Team, Your Worst Nightmare". I'll say, the score was 40-96 against Cabell-Midland High) It was fun to try out my 18-200 VR lens on this. Basketball is a lot more difficult than birds. I shot hundreds of shots and got just a handful of decent action shots. I need more experience.
