Here's some stuff I shot while hanging out waiting in Macy's. I thought I'd post two versions of these shots to show how I might refine a shot after I decided to shoot it. Looking at the handbag buckle, I've always thought that good composition was just as much about what to leave out as what to include. Looking at the necklaces, I shot it one way, then I decided to try a different angle and also add a little color by holding up a Macy's shopping bag with a big red star on it.

I thought the necklaces were Christmas tree garlands.
Oh Rick, you've committed that cardinal photographer's error in the necklace shots: you reflected yourself in the photo. Except you did it several dozen times.
Maybe it's a photographer's paraphrase of the Stalin line: one reflection is a tragedy, dozens of them is art :).
Hehe... it's not a sin in my Bible! I always enjoy pointing out the photographer in shots of shiny objects. I also like to study other photographer's lighting techniques by looking in shiny objects and the eyes of models.
