That first one is like "War of the Worlds" in the produce aisle :O

Beautiful shots!

I could swear the veins on that kale (or whatever it is) is pulsating like the Triskellian Gamester's skull.

(Whoops. Wrong Star Trek episode reference. Actually, I'm thinking of those guys in The Menagerie. Yeah, one of them.)

The pineapple looks dangerous but, oh, what lies beneath.

And the leaf shadows! I'd never realized what I was seeing until I started coming here. I can almost feel the warmth of the sunlight on on the fruit. Just the thing for Spring.

Thanks, Rick. My day? Made!

As always, beautiful shots. The first one is my favorite - it does almost look alive!

All of the shots are amazingly great! I do love the first one. The contrast of the green and red.......looks creepily tasty. How how hard was it to light that corn? I see a great deal of light even on the bottom row. Truly aMAIZing. Corney I know.

That top shot is AMAZING!

Mandy... many people are surprised to learn that all of the produce shots are done in the store with a tiny little Fuji F30 pocket camera. The light you see reflected in the corn is the fluorescent fixture in the produce shelving system. The only thing special I do for the lighting is I do a custom white balance. I do a different custom WB for each different area of the store depending on if it's lit by the shelving lights or the overhead lights. This gets me really close in the ballpark but I still do some color correction in the computer. Doing a custom WB seems pretty complicated at first but if you do it frequently it only takes a few seconds and it makes a big difference.

I'm so use to lugging around my SLR that a point and shot camera would feel like an alien in my pocket! Maybe I should start taking it along more often?

That top one is wicked!

And the peach is lovely.

Great shots as usual!

Mandy, there's an old saying about cameras... you might think that a cheaper/smaller camera isn't good enough, but any camera you have with you is better than the camera at home.

Rick: I love the corn shot. I would love to have it with some sweet butter on top.

Rick Lee said...

Yes, I should take butter to the store with me next time. That shot would be a lot better with butter.
