Someone gave me one of these at Christmas and I was creeped out too. Unfortunately, she would notice it if I didn't keep it around, so I can't give it to Goodwill....LOL
It is funny how people view these so differently. I have bought quite a few of these over the past couple of years for members of my family; like Pete I have considered the facelessness to be powerful.
Pete & Maisy... yeah, I would assume that many people WOULD like them. They don't get carried in Hallmark stores for nothing. But I have to admit that my first reaction was revulsion and I think it DOES have something to do with the Twilight Zone. Or perhaps it was the old Star Trek. Some show back in the 60's had an episode where some people had their faces removed and I saw it when I was an impressionable youngster and it scared the crap out of me. That image has stuck with me over the years and occasionally it will pop into my mind and I remember how much that image affected me.

kenju,
Unless she reads this blog. . .
Rick,
As always, interesting. But I wasn't creeped out at all. I found the facelessness to actually be powerful. Don't ask me why.

You can fix those really quickly with a Sharpie. The Hallmark folks don't like it too much, though.
