I'm back in Charleston. I saw this on the way to work this morning.

Welcome back. Good to see there's still plenty of opportunities for you close to home to produce great art.

My favorite photos are usually of the sky and of water. You've got them both here!!

Perfect. You can almost see the mist drifting.

I've got a photography question for you. Do you use a photo editing software, if so, which one? Or are your photos so perfect that you don't need to use one?
I found a cool photo from our vacation in June (I put it on my blog today if you want to check it out). It is of a frog through glass at the aquarium. I just noticed today that you can see my son's reflection in the glass. I am on a mission now, I need to figure out how to enhance his reflection, make it more noticable.

Nicole... just emailed you a new version of the frog photo. I use Photoshop, of course. It's a hugely expensive program but there is a good less-expensive version for amateurs called Photoshop Elements. Still not cheap. There is a free program out there called GIMP which I hear is good but I've never used it. EVERYTHING I shoot goes through Photoshop before publishing. The pictures that come out of the camera are never good enough to use. There's always a little cropping or color correction or lightening or darkening or dodging and burning or retouching or something that needs to be done. Always. The camera file is just raw material for the finished image. Every once in a while I hear somebody say something that implies that that is "cheating" or something. How funny. That's a very amateurish attitude.

Every city should have a river running through it. I miss it so much, even after 44 years.

Wow! How's that for a "welcome home" image?
