Greenwich Village Halloween Parade

Well... we tried. More people than usual showed up for the Halloween parade this year. We couldn't get close. We really didn't see the parade at all. We got crushed in the crowd and ended up very near a big fight that was broken up by the police. It was an interesting exerience anyway.

I grew up in New York City.

All things considered, I'd rather be in West Virginia.

Looks fun, even if you didn't get to see the actual parade!

I love New York--from a distance. Great shots, Rick, thanks.

I like the dude with the milk carton on his head. Rich and creamy!

Dale.. I was assuming that was supposed to be "my face on a milk carton". Cute idea.

VERY good idea if that was the gist behind it. I didn't consider it from that angle. Derka, derka!

You know what I noticed? Most of them look either bored, sad or grouchy!

Yeah, the spot where I was there were a LOT of grouchy people. Everybody was shoving to try to get either closer to the parade (impossible) or away from the parade (very hard). Somebody shoved the wrong guy and a big fight broke out. Luckily the police were on top of it in within 10 seconds. It was amazing how quickly a great big hole opened up around those guys when before it had been a big immovable mass of people. People were saying that it wasn't nearly as crowded last year. For some reason this year there were just way too many people for it to be an enjoyable event. I'd like to see it sometime when it was more accessible.
