Found - One Swiss Army Knife

Does anybody know a Jason Happe? I found his knife.
UPDATE: Well... this is just too funny. Someone in Tennessee who was in the military with Jason Happe called Jason's dad here in West Virginia to tell him about the knife. I got a call from Jason's dad who told me that Jason's grandmother bought the knife for him in Switzerland. Jason lost the knife in Kanawha State Forest where I found it a few years ago. I stuck it in the glove box of my car and I ran across it the other day when I sold that car. I had always wondered who Jason Happe was, so I posted it on the blog. I also got a call from Jason. Since losing the knife, he has served in the Army in Iraq and now lives in Savannah, GA. Isn't the Internet cool? I'm going to give the knife to Jason's dad on Monday.
UPDATE 2: I gave the knife to Jason's dad this morning and had a nice conversation. The knife is halfway home!

Did you find it in Georgia?

No... I found it in West Virginia. There's no way of knowing where it originated though.

Page... I just heard from Jason Happe. He lives in Georgia now but he lost the knife years ago in WV. How funny is that?

I'm psychic!
Well, not really
www.searchbug.com
Useful for finding just about anyone, scary to know all of our personal info is so readily available on the net.

I love how the knife story has unfolded! :-)

Okay, I just tried searchbug for the first time and it IS a little scarey how much info they have, but it's also very cool...I was able to track down my best friend from elementary school (30 years ago!) in just a couple of minutes. She's been on my mind lately. I think I'll send her a Christmas card! :-)

The internet is indeed cool! This is a great story, Rick, and I think you should call the Gazette and Daily Mail and have them tell all about it!!

Mega-dittoes on kenju's statement: cool story. Way to go, Rick!

that is awesome. I'm gonna start using that label maker my aunt gave me for christmas last year and putting my name on everything. that way, if i lose something in the woods, maybe someday someone will return it to me. :)

I agree -- a great story Rick. It serves as a perfect example of today's live web. Instead of contacting the Gazette and Daily Mail (Gazz blogs and Don's blog excluded) let's first experiment and see how readers can spread the story. Please post about the story or send it on to other bloggers that you know. Rick, I'm sure Instapundit will pick this one up. Why not Digg it, etc. As one comment says, "its an unfolding story."

I grew up with Jason Happe in the James Park neighborhood of South Charleston. This world is so small sometimes!
