The more I think about this the more fascinating I find it. Is it just irritating to the manager of the Subway that his customers talk on the phone while (instead of) ordering? Or are they slowing the line down too much perhaps? Is it so important that he needs to post a sign which is insulting to a certain segment of his customers?
I think it is too bad that the store reached a point where they felt the need to post a sign. People should politely be OFF of their phone when it is their turn to order. I guess I just declared myself "Miss Manners" today...
I have friends who think nothing of calling me while they are ordering food. Right in the middle of the conversation, I will hear them say their order and think they have lost their minds until I realize what they are doing. Seriously, nothing we are talking about is THAT important that it can not wait two minutes while you place your order and get your sandwich! I love that this guy finally took some action against it!
It's sad he had to put up the sign. I agree with "Miss Manners" that people should know better than to try and carry on a phone conversation while ordering their lunch.
Oh, and I don't think the guy looks hateful, just a bit grouchy. Maybe there'll be a new sign tomorrow: "No Photography while ordering."
Let's call him curmudgeonly. That's a word that used to be derogatory but now I think it's taken on a warm and fuzzy connotation. I was third from the front of the line when I took that photo. I was careful to order quickly and precisely... a la soup-nazi style.
