Mystery #17

Do you know what this is a part of? Post your guesses in the comments. I'm not sure if this is a good mystery photo or not. Let us see.
UPDATE: I've added 2 more photos of the object.

it's the scoop of a lamp.

It's not a lamp. This is not an ordinary object. Most people would not have one, although it is iconic.

Looks like part of an old tape deck reel.

Is it an old flash bulb reflector?

One of those things that used to hold flash bulbs on old cameras?

Yes, it's an old Speed Graphic camera. Just about every movie made in the 40s seemed to feature a news photographer carrying a Speed Graphic. I don't have a good photo of it (oh the irony) but here's a bad one.

Okay, before I read the other comments.....
it's an old camera and this is the part you would put the flash bulb in......

I beg to differ. It is a lamp, but one that only stays on for 0.0001 of a second.

Here from Blond Girl's "Site of the Day" pic at Michele's. I never would have guessed this one.

Looks to me like 80s era track lighting.

BTW, Blond Girl/Michelle sent me.

Thanks very much to Blond Girl and Michele for the referrals!
