My Heart

Here's the offending organ. It was a very minor heart attack involving a small blood vessel. Everything else looks pretty good. I hope to be mountain biking again in a few weeks.

You, with the big heart, take care of yourself. So pleased it wasn't worse. We look forward to you being out and about and posting!

Will your new health regimen mean more produce eating and less produce blogging? Gosh, what would my Fridays be like then? The mind reels.

Glad it all turned out to be something only minor. Stay healthy and take care, Rick.

Be well, so you can keep buying those vegetables.

DO WHAT THE DOCTORS TELL YOU, Rick!! take care of yourself (Pete is right).

Damn. Do you smoke or have high cholesterol? I'm about your age and it's got me thinking I need to get on a mountain bike too.

Pace yourself.

Rick-
As a "warning guide" and aid to the rest of us who are over 40 and work way too hard, would you mind to tell us what you were feeling ... what the symptoms were? If not, I understand.

Get well soon! And take good care of yourself.

Very best regards,
Skip

I'm fascinated by the photograph. It feels primal and the arc of it is lovely.

I'm so glad you're well!

I'm a lurker and appreciative viewer of photographs, not normally a commenter, but...

Take care of yourself, seems you are way too young (ie, younger than me!) to be having heart problems.

I am glad to see you posting again.

Richard... I have practically no risk factors except for being a male.

Skip... basically I thought I was having real bad indigestion and I really needed to belch real badly. I took some Gaviscon and continued getting ready for work in the morning even though it was hurting pretty badly. At no time was it that sort of pain and pressure you hear about where "somebody was sitting on my chest". I actually drove to work in the middle of it but when I got to the office I looked in the mirror and that scared me. I was sweating profusely and I looked really pale so I called my wife who is a lot smarter than I am and she talked me into calling 911.

I started feeling better by the time I got to the hospital, but the tests showed I likely had a mild heart attack. Later tests confirmed it. I imagine a lot of people would have just sweated it out and wouldn't have known for sure. The next day they would be feeling pleased with themselves that they didn't go to the hospital over such a minor incident. Now I know that I have to take medication and do stuff to prevent this from happening in the future.

One little pin prick. Itsn't it amazing?

As a vetran in this, be prepared. The Enzimes released will make you irritable. Cross. Warn your wife and people in close proximity. It has nothing to do with your personality. It's simply biological.

Best wishes!

I can't wait for the next produce blogg!

Rick,

Feel better soon. We will have to have CAB soon to celebrate your recovery.

Great news! It's wonderful to hear that it was only minor - but DO take care of yourself - you feel like family - heck, you are part of our blogging family!

Glad to hear it was only minor!

Take care and eat those veggies, don't just take pictures of them! :)

I was going to say "congratulations", but that's not really appropriate, I suppose!

I'm glad you're doing better, and now you know... DON'T IGNORE THE SYMPTOMS! =D

I'm glad you're OK. That's really scary! Kind of a warning sign for me, too - my blood pressure has been high the last couple doctor's visits and I really need to stay on top of that, though it's often the last thing on my mind. We need to keep our tickers healthy! Work is a little more forgiving than our circulatory systems!

Whatever that doesn't kill you just makes you stronger. Rock on Rick. Hope you'll be blazing down the bike trail soon.

And more stunning photos.

Looks like a small obtuse marginal branch?

I am glad it wasn't serious. Did the discharge you on a beta blocker and aspirin?

Rick Lee said...

Heather... it was a septal perforator off of the left anterior descending artery... which I can't find on this photo or I would have marked it. I have it marked on a chart but I can't quite make it out on this photo.

I'm home now and I've got a list of meds to take... the usual stuff.

Glad to see you're at home. Relax and we'll see you when you get back to work.

Hadn't seen your posts since the bike trip, and thought the heart was one of your medical assignments - this time you were the assignment!

Glad to hear that you are doing ok, and aren't you glad your wife is so smart? ;-)

Speedy recovery and best of future health to you.

Just ran across this today. Glad to read that you are doing well, Rick.

I have practically no risk factors except for being a male.

Same was true for me when I had one a little over 6 years ago.

Stay well.
