Wow, beautiful lighting! It really looks as if it was airbrushed. Would you mind explaining how you lit and shot this, please?
It seems as if it's about to roll over and start walking any second...

Amazing shot, Rick. Great minds think alike; I posted a craptastic photo of a bug i saw today on *click*, but it's nothing like this. Wowie.

What kind of bug is that?

Rick: That wasp has seen better days. You have captured him forever. It's like a memorial to its death.

Thanks for the comments everybody.

Catherine, it's a common wasp.

Chen... a couple of weeks ago I was working in an old school building. The wasp was one of several that were dead and lying on the window sill. They looked like they had been there for years. Not only were they completely dried out, but they were starting to get bleached out. So the lighting was a giant north sky just like a huge soft box and the background was a dark window sill. The camera was my new Fuji F100 pocket camera.

Hard to believe it's just a dried out wasp on a window sill. The lightly is almost surreal. Nice capture.
