Red Shamrocks

You may remember these shamrocks that I posted last year. This "red" shamrock is a houseplant and it's huge. These are the tiny flowers it produces. The flowers are about the size of a fingernail.

More shamrocks

Are you guys tired of seeing my neighbor's shamrocks? I'm endlessly fascinated by the things. They have the extreme beauty of simple purity.

Shamrocks redux

This is a photo I've been meaning to post for a while...

... these are the same shamrocks seen in this previous post. This photo above was taken very early in the morning... after the previous photos. Do they close up every night? I don't know. By the way, these flowers are very small... perhaps half an inch?

LYJ

Little yellow jobbies...

which are next to the Shamrocks in my neighbor's flower bed. Perhaps Judy can tell us what they are. I have no idea. I didn't post these before, but everybody seemed to like the Shamrocks so well I thought I would. I'm recuperating from root canal work and too full of pain-killers to shoot anything.

Shamrock searches

All of a sudden in the last few days, Sitemeter is telling me that I'm getting a lot of Google hits with people searching for images of shamrocks. I kept wondering why this would be... duh... just goes to show you how thick I am. I finally figured it out.

Color balance

My neighbor's shamrocks are blooming again. I think most people set the white balance on their digital cameras to "Auto". This is convenient and it works fine some of the time... but using the white-balance presets will provide the photographer with another degree of creative control. The first photo (the bluer one) was shot on Daylight and the other one was shot on Shade. Which one is correct? It certainly was shot in the shade, and I think the Shade setting is actually closer to "true"... but I like the bluer one better. The one I like wins.
