Abstract Impressionist Tea

I kept looking at this photo of iced tea I posted on Thanksgiving and suddenly I realized why it looked so familiar. I think it's a Rothko.

Problem
heavy sigh
I was just trying to post some photos and there is a problem with Blogger again. I can't believe that I was just defending Blogger on a Photoblogging discussion group. It has been a long time since there have been problems like this.

Virginia Postrel Fan
Welcome Virginia Postrel readers.... yes, I'm a big fan of Virginia Postrel. I've read The Substance of Style as well as The Future and It's Enemies. Virginia is critically acclaimed and has a very loyal following, but her sales aren't what they could be. She seems to be a little bummed about this. The Substance of Style is now available in paperback... a perfect gift for the wonk or the artist or designer in your life!
Update: I fixed the spelling of "Postrel" in the title... duh... also, FYI, Ms. Postrel linked to this post of mine a few months ago.

Slough is tough
I was just perusing my Sitemeter stats and noticed that someone from the town of Slough in the UK was looking in. Slough is perhaps best-known these days as the location for the British comedy "The Office". Funny, at home we just had a big conversation about the pronunciation of Slough. Niether of us could remember exactly how it was pronounced. We remembered taking the train to Windsor and passing by Slough and when you hear the conductor say it out loud you say "whaa?" So many placenames in the UK have nonsensical pronunciations. Leicester is LESTER. Worchester is WOOSTER. Holborn is HOBUN. I never could figure out how to pronounce Marylebone. Even the natives can't be sure. The list goes on and on. By the way, Slough is tough, it rhymes with cow.
I don't have any photos of Slough to go with this post. I tried searching on the Internet for photographers in Slough... I could find some photographers but none who actually had any pictures of Slough on their site!

Clouds of Power

Here's another shot of the John Amos power plant. Ya wanna know why Don Surber is so cranky? He lives under that cloud.
