The National Gallery

It seems like the south portico of the National Gallery is magic for me. Whenever I shoot there, something cool happens. See this photo from two years ago. I shot about a thousand pictures today. I'll post more in the next few days.

The White House

After dinner we realized the restaurant was just a few blocks from the White House so we took a walk. It was too dark out to get any *good* pictures, but here's a couple anyway. I always tell people not to try to take pictures like this after dark. If the sky is black, it's too late. Shoot these when there still a hint of dusky blue/purple in the sky. These would have been pretty good if they were shot around 5:30 instead of 8:30.


This is the Executive Office Building next door to the White House. I think it's just an amazing bit of Second Empire architecture.

The Phillips Collection

I'm in Washington,DC. I've never been to the Phillips Collection Museum before, though I think I've heard of it. It turns out it's right across the street from my hotel on Embassy Row so I strolled over there this morning to have a look. I'm sure glad I did. They have a wonderful collection of Impressionist and later paintings, and right now there's a large special exhibit called "Impressionists by the Sea" which is quite impressive. As usual, I sneaked a few photos, but most of them were blurry. Here's a couple to give a taste.

Internet Problems

I'm in Washington DC. The hotel where I am is having Internet problems so I couldn't post last night. I'll try to get some photos up this evening.

The Great Indoors

My nephew Adam and I had a contest, shooting photos inside "The Great Indoors" store. Last year Adam was warned by security to stop taking photos in there. We thought it would be fun to have this contest, and one of the rules would be that if you were called out by security you'd be disqualified. Now we're waiting for Adam to upload his entries in this contest so that the voting can begin. Ahem.

Flying!

While in Columbus, my old buddy Dave Gamble invited Adam (my nephew) and me to go flying. It was a blast!
