Snowshoe Mountain

I'm up here at Snowshoe shooting a job for two days. It's a ski resort so it's deserted. There are some mountain bikers around, but it's so weird being here outside of ski season. I recommend that you come up for a visit. You can walk right into some great restaurants and get seated immediately. So far, the Ember restaurant is my fave. Perhaps I'll post some food shots tomorrow. Right now it's late and I'm tired.

We were at Snowshoe the week before last. It sure is lonely up there during the week.

Embers! I still have the menu! Outstanding food. My husband had the pork chop with maple mustard glaze over horseradish mashers and roasted Fiji apples. I indulged in the black grouper with saffron buerre blanc crayfish chevre grits and grilled sonoma asparagus.

Five stars in my book!

Did I mention that when the waiter brought us the check he also brought a stick of mixed berry and banana cotton candy? I was in heaven!!!!

Before the meal, the chef sent us a spoon full of "just a taste" cucumber cream.... we felt so special.

Before our meal, we got a skewer with a little piece of beef (with some sort of wonderful spices on it) and a piece of apple on it. My four table-mates were all non-beef-eaters so I got all four! I was very happy. After dinner, we got the cotton candy too... what a fun surprise! The berry flavor was fantastic.
