As always, love the Produce Blogging.

I expect this has probably already been asked (and answered) a dozen times over, but here goes...

Do you shoot these Produce Blogging shots once you get back home under controlled lighting conditions, or are they "in the wild" of the grocery store?

Hi Doc... yes, I get asked that from time to time, but nobody is expected to follow my every word. All the produce is shot in the store (I sure don't BUY all that stuff)... the Kroger or Wal-Mart produce sections. It's shot with my tiny little Fuji F30 camera on macro and flourescent light setting.... 800 ISO. Most stores have a policy banning photography in the store so I keep a low profile. It helps that I'm usually shopping pretty late at night when there aren't crowds of other shoppers and employees around.

Excellent... guerilla photography. I approve.

Anyway, you do good work, and are a real inspiration for those of us who want to be like you when we grow up. ;)

What is that next to last shot? An onion?

Yes, it's an onion.

Hello? Anyone out there?

For the last few days, I wasn't able to view the word verification for comments. It's back now. But not too late to say, thanks Rick for the produce blogging. You know how much I enjoy it. And, as always, each week you never fail to top yourself.

Great work!

Rick, if you bought all that stuff you'd have the makings of a great winter vegetable soup--leeks, carrots, onions--just add some turnips or taters and some cream, salt and pepper!
