Hmmm...I got a 70. It's weird taking a typing test where the words don't flow in sentence form. It's a lot harder to type like that...when you can't really anticipate what the next word is gonna be.
Yeah, that WAS weird... but at the same time it seemed like there were a high percentage of words that are those familiar words that my hands know how to do without thinking.
You're right about the familiar words. Someone told me recently that they had to type a poem for a typing test. A poem? With odd spellings and strange words. Someone at the next workstation had a regular paragraph of text. That seems patently ridiculous and unfair. How can you possibly compare the two?
I just took the test you point to again...to see if my score would improve once I was familiar with the format and I went up to 76. So, I guess it did. Back in the dark ages of high school, I typed about 80 on an electric typewriter. I guess 76 (with no errors) isn't bad these days.
PS: Go, Packers! I guess I should be paying more attention to the game than the blogs, right? Heh.
re: joanna I did a typing test and got a poem, and the person next to me had regular test. When I only got like a 60 on the poem, i tried again and got HTML. It's extremely unfair. Mavis beacon is an awful official tester. I blogged about it back in august. i was so mad because it was for an official typing test too. :(
Good job rick! Maybe as a blogger you have gotten enough practice and have improved your skills without even knowing it. :)

I practiced a little and got 76 wpm. A very interesting test because it was isolated words and not whole sentences.
What I thought most amazing was the number of characters I could type per minute. Not the right or wrong..I was stunned.
I totally think I have that shoe! Hehehe.

You addicted me Rick. Got to 76 after about 5 tries. I'm challenging my secretary and staff this AM.
Got 61 also. I thought I was really slowing down over the years. I guess not. There is now just much more to type.
