It's just a big garage door on a commercial building and the thing in the foreground is one of those posts that keep you from running into the side of the door... a large pipe with a concrete dome on top. It was all painted the same color blue which attracted me to it. I didn't see this composition at first.
Rick- Great picture. To look at the mundane with a fresh eye is certainly on of your gifts.
The post is called a "bollard." It's a hollow steel tube, usually buried about 30" deep, and then filled with concrete. The top is shaped into a crown to shed water.

Ahhh... I knew it had to be something like that, but just could wrap my mind around it. I love the slowly deminishing depth of field and color.
