Do you feel self conscious taking photos of public bridges, buildings, etc after 9/11? I do. I'm just an amateur photography, a hobbiest, and was in Pittsburgh a few months ago with my camera shooting some of the many bridges on the Allegheny river. I got some very strange looks, and not curious looks either. Looks of concern, like, should-I-report-this kind of looks. I don't look Arab, although I am male and in my mid-40s. It was very unnerving.
Richard, immediately after 9/11 you couldn't take photos in any public space without drawing some interest from security and just general passers-by. But it's all calmed down now. I hardly ever draw any suspicion these days it seems. I also have a habit of not looking at other people when I'm shooting. Self consciousness is your enemy when working in public. One way to avoid feeling that way is to simply avoid looking at other people and concentrate on what you are doing.

I think the river is what I miss the most about Charleston. If Raleigh had a river, it would be perfect!
It's an asset that Mayor Jones will get developed. The city has to grow. That's the growth area.
