Red-Tail likes Coke

I was on a scouting trip at a Coca-Cola warehouse this morning when a red-tail hawk flew low over my car. I jumped out with a camera and telephoto and got a few shots. Alas, nothing extremely cool... but interesting nonetheless. The hawk perched on a lamp post for a long time. I waited patiently hoping to get a cool shot when it took flight, but it flew directly away from me. Coca-Cola has some nice wetlands on the property that is a haven for wildlife. The employees see all sorts of things like this.

City at dusk

I got a nice new shot of Charleston (WV) at dusk this evening.

Little green bug

This guy was sitting on the screen to my deck door this morning. It amazes me that some of these bugs will just sit there while I get the camera lens 2 inches from their faces. That's an advantage of using a camera with a viewing screen on the back. Not having to have your eye up to a viewfinder helps with this sort of thing.

Old Corks

I thought this was an interesting use of old wine corks. Seen at the Capitol Market (farmer's market and more) in Charleston, WV.

Life on the Road: I-79 Dawn

On my way to West Virginia's eastern panhandle, I shot some pictures through the windshield. As Nitsa says... sometimes sharpness is overrated.

This was just the coolest thing. Some kids I met today had lots of animals. It was a regular zoo... the featured attraction today being the birth of turtles.
