I don't have much in the way to words of wisdon on shooting the moon... other than you need as long a lens as you have access to. This is a 300mm (zoom) on a DX camera (smaller sensor so it's more tele than on a full-frame sensor). Must use a tripod. This is also cropped in a good bit from a full frame shot. The moon has that cool color for two reasons... it's lit by the setting sun and I used fluorescent color balance to get a better blue in the sky. The moon looks big when it's close to the horizon and you can get terrestrial objects in the shot.
Hey Judy... I never actually made a decision to stop posting, I guess it's just that after 5 years I've really lost my enthusiasm for it and I just don't think about it all the time like I used to. I was repeating myself a lot and Facebook has replaced the function of the blog on some levels. I will probably start posting again at some point when I have some ideas I need to get out there.
Rick's Sunset Maxim never fails to astonish!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot indeed.... Mind sharing some tips on shooting the moon?
