I've been driving by scenes like this in the morning every work day since 1988. Only since I started photo-blogging have I actually begun stopping to take these pictures. Before, I would think about stopping but I wouldn't do it because I was a professional and nobody was paying me to do it and I couldn't imagine what I'd ever do with the photos. Now, I stop. I shoot. I need those photos. I am amassing quite a library of these shots. Photo-blogging has made me a better photographer.
Very nice shots... Love the light. You can only get better with practice, as they say.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's right. I still don't consider myself a "nature photographer" like Steve Shaluta or whoever. That requires dedication... to do stuff like perch yourself on a mountaintop waiting for the sun to come up. I just take stuff that I see along the way.

ReplyDeleteI will be there at the very beginning of October. I've wanted to visit in the Fall ever since I saw the photos you took of the trees last Autumn. They were breathtaking! We have very few trees where I live; it's all flat, brown and arid.
And I just so happened to receive an invitation to visit a fellow blogger. :-) I am hoping that some of the trees are turning while I am there.

I agree with you on the blogging thoughts. You might say I lost my way as you said "not getting paid for it so why shoot it.". I think digital has got a lot to do with it as well.

It's a fine thing to have a place to share what crosses the corner of one's eye...and it makes me a much more disciplined "see-er."
