Produce night, at last! Thanks for bringing it back, Rick. I've missed it.
And great job, as usual. But, come on, admit it: the shot of the plums is staged, right? Not that there's anything wrong with that - no telling what else you might've arranged to make your compositions more pleasing - but it seems obvious and heavy-handed, not your style at all. Or, I could be wrong and, if so, never mind.
I spent yesterday twisting and turning beneath the Minster and through The Shambles of York....couldn't help but think 'Rick Lee would have a photographic field day here'.
Man... tough crowd here tonight. Yes, I staged the plums. Sometimes you just need some contrast. I wasn't that happy with that shot in general but I liked the color.
Buffy... yes, I had several field days in York. We were big fans of Brideshead Revisited so we made the pilgimage to Castle Howard. It looks a lot smaller in person but still it was very cool to go there after experiencing that wonderful mini-series. You can see several images from that trip here.
Colors or composition first? I dunno... I guess that colors are a really big factor in the composition to me, so I guess it's a combination of things. I haven't done B&W photography for a long time so I tend to think about color as a primary factor in the composition.

Ever been?
Rick, I was missing my veggie porn. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAnd tell me the plums aren't "fauxtography"? Was "Green Helmet Man" visiting the Winn-Dixie?
Just curious Rick
ReplyDeleteWhen you pick your "subjects" to photograph - do you see the colors or the composition first?
Staged or not, I dig it. Nice job! Also, I especially like the second one. What is it about water droplets that seems to make a picture?

Great pics. Its food and its art, two of my favorite things.
ReplyDeleteStage away.
ReplyDeleteLast time I checked, no one was complaining about war crimes against plums or peaches.
