As you can probably tell, these are not common ordinary items. You probably don't have some of these in your house, but it'll be interesting to see if anybody knows what they are.
Do they have something to do with trains?
I'm thinking plumbing fixtures, myself.
They look like something off a very old fire hydrant.

I don't how that prior comment got pasted in there, dagnabit. But, regarding the mystery photo, they look heavy duty and old. I'll combine two of the answers already posted and say railroad smudge pots?
Here's a clue... they are less than 2 inches in diameter.

They are "horn weights", used to make the horns of bulls grow downwards... like this.
