A twisty, flourescent lightbulb.
That's correct... it's one of those flourescent bulbs shaped to go in a regular light socket. I thought about cropping out the bottom portion to make it more difficult, but then it wouldn't have been much of a picture!
I thought it might be a lighbulb, though the inside of a phone cord came to mind as well.
