I agree with Timothy and think it's a speaker ... one of the kicker type things for a car stereo.
I've got the grate part, the metal (what i would think is) a street grate, so i know it's looking through that, but the orange part is the part that is throwing me. i'll think about it and see what i come up with.
Timothy is correct. It's a tweeter on an old Advent speaker. If you were into hi-fi in the 70s, you know what this is.
