Yes, Greg... it DOES look like the inside of a hard drive... because that's what it is. The platter is there, you just can't recognize it because you can't see the edge. The platter is a perfect front-surface mirror so you are seeing the flywheel and read/write head reflected. Look here to see it better.
Looks like a polygraph machine or the machine they use to mesure earth tremors (can't remember the name of it)
