Another tree on Smith Road

This was shot about 20 yards down the road from the previous post. Not as nice as the last one, but pretty good.

New Camera

I got a new professional camera today. My Fuji S3 has been acting up so I got this Nikon D200 so I could get the Fuji worked on. I'm still reading the manual. As many of you know, most of my blog pics are taken with my Fuji F10 pocket camera.

City Trees

The Whipple Store

I went to Glen Jean, WV to shoot a job today. On the way home, I passed through Whipple and I always take note of the old octagonal building at the crossroads. The odd structure was built as a coal company store in the old days. It hasn't been a company store in a long time but many businesses have been located in the building as time went by. I see now that it's vacant and in terrible shape. It's going to be sad to see that piece of history go.

This is my photo on the cover of the current issue of Charleston Magazine. I tried to link to the magazine but I couldn't find a web page for it. [scratching head]

More from "We Are... Marshall"

More shots from the set of "We Are... Marshall", the upcoming Warner Bros. film.

Above, McConaughey and Strathairn joke around between takes. This is a rare view of McConaughey slipping out of character. He was staying in character most of the time and he physically looked different as you can see in the second photo. Below McG is giving direction.

Above, Governer Manchin showed up and watched the video assist for a while. Below, crowds of onlookers were always present on the Marshall campus.

See my main page here. More shots from the film in the previous post.

"We Are... Marshall"

Today, I was fortunate enough to get on the set of a new Warner Bros. film about the aftermath of the terrible Marshall University football team plane crash of 1970.

Below... extras in 70's garb on their way to the set.

Matthew McConaughey looks positively weird in the hair and wardrobe. He's playing Coach Jack Lengyl who rebuilt the MU football team after the plane crash of 1970.

Anytime that Matthew is supposed to be on set, the girls show up in force.

Below is Oscar nominated actor David Strathairn. Strathairn appeared in "Matewan" which was also filmed in West Virginia. Here he is playing college president Donald Dedmon.

Director McG and screenwriter Jamie Linden. In the foreground are a couple of extras in their 1970 wardrobe.

Below is Anthony Mackie who is portraying defensive back Nate Ruffin.

These guys brought the 35 year old cars.

I'm going to post more photos from the set tomorrow.
UPDATE: More photos are up now in the next post.

If this was shot today... why does it look like 1970? More later.

Red Sky In Morning

My business has become very regional. I often hit the road before daylight to get to my jobs. When the weather is good, it's a pleasure.

Easter Lilly

My Niece's Eye

I went to Easter dinner with family and I took these photos of my beautiful niece's big brown eyes. Not a drop of makeup!
