Blenko Glass

From a recent trip to the Blenko Factory Store. Glass can be really tricky to shoot. You have to be aware that you aren't shooting light that's bouncing off of a subject as in most cases, but you are shooting light that's coming though the object as well as glancing off in specular hightlights. It's all very tricky but if you get your head in the right place it's a lot of fun. The apple is a carefully lit studio shot, but the last two were simply shot with the sunlight streaming in the store window.

I don't know the first thing about photography and most of what you said just flew right over my head, but I do know that I love the way light plays with glass whether in photos or real life. Those are some beautiful pictures.

I haven't been to the Blenko factory since I was about 12 years old, and I sure would like to go back. I have maybe 30 small pieces of it, and they sit in my window sills, just like they did at my mom's house 50 years ago.

Great photos on your site. I feature photography as well on my site with commentary on the culture. I will visit from time to time to view your work.
