Botanical Gardens

Some shots from a trip to a great botanical garden full of wonders... err... I mean the Garden Center at Lowes. More Lowes blogging here.

Mystery #4

Do you know what this is?

Produce Blogging #14

I missed posting the fruit on Thursday because I was traveling late Thursday and I had trouble getting on the Internet from the hotel. Here it is, 2 days late... because Thursday night is grocery night! When I was a kid, I thought navel oranges were somehow creepy looking, but I did appreciate the lack of seeds.

Mystery #3

Do you know what this is? I'm assuming this one is more difficult because it's not a common household object.

Here comes the sun...

... and I say... it's going to be another scorcher.

Sky, cloud, land... part 3

I liked this funny little cloud. It kinda looks like a flame to me. More sky, cloud, land... here and here.

Barber Shop or Museum? Part 4

More useless collectables from the Shearcut on Fife Street. More here, here and here.

Mystery #2

Can you tell what this is? I really have no idea if this will be difficult or not. It's hard for me to know since I already know what it is. We had some fun guessing this.

Goldfish quickies

Recently, I was passing the fish for sale in a local store and I just very quickly grabbed a couple of shots. I was surprised when I got home that I actually liked both shots. That never happens. More goldfish here.

Some flower

I shot this a few months ago. I can't remember what it is. I think it was on a tree.

Vision

Here's another eye. Oddly enough, this was taken in an operating room used to do lens implants. It didn't have anything to do with the surgery. I was just killing time waiting for doctors to show up and get their picture taken. See more eyes, here and here.

What, me worry?

My cousing got me this bobble-head for my birthday. A symbol of my long lost youth.

An iris which is not a flower.

This eye has a rather remarkable iris (colored part of the eye).

In with the new...

I've had lots of Marshall fans visiting to see the picture of Coach Pruitt and his rings. Here's the new guy. I like this cover shot I did for Huntington Quarterly. If you are interested in the magazine, click here.

It's that time of year... the Rainier cherries are here! The Rainier cherries are here!
Because Thursday night is grocery night.
The roundup of previous produce blogging is here.

Game Rings

I was getting this file out to get a print made and I thought there might be a few Marshall fans reading the blog who would get a kick out of this.

Adam's Photo Page

One of my nephews has started a photo blog.

This little piggy...

I didn't have anything new to post today, so I went to the files. People are always asking me what type of photography I do. "Weddings? Family portraits?" "No," I answer politely, "I work in advertising mostly... for instance, I do a lot of health-care marketing stuff". Now that really throws 'em. Health care marketing? What the heck is that? This shot of newborn feet is a slightly esoteric example. While I do a lot of shots of doctors and nurses working, etc... this was a cover of a hospital magazine. I think I'll post a series of health care shots later.

Bird's nest blogging

Glenn Reynolds, ever the trend setter... has a post about a bird's nest. So here's mine. I shot this a few weeks ago while on location at a juvenile detention facility (jail). I was shooting for the architects who designed the new facility. This was a little serendipitous zoology lesson for the kids... the robin built her nest right behind the bars, up against the window glass.
